If you love notebooks or the ability to jot down ideas wherever and whenever, then you will probably enjoy Traveler’s Notebooks. Traveler’s Notebooks (TN) are leather (or sometimes fabric) covers with elastic strings inserted into the spine. The strings hold in notebooks that can easily be added or removed. Over the last two years the popularity has grown for traveler’s notebooks as the interest in planners have grown. But many use their traveler’s notebooks for ideas, journals, and drawings as well. There are many companies that create TN such as the Traveler’s Company (formerly Midori), Chic Sparrow, Foxy Fix, Naked Cow and Galen Leather. Today I am sharing my Foxy Fix Review.

Foxy Fix Sizing
First is the sizing, Foxy Fix uses numbers to choose between their sizing options, which are many. If you are unsure which to choose I suggest cutting out a piece of cardboard to test out the size. Each leather is very different so be sure to read the description on color, wearability and leather thickness. I highly encourage you to join their Facebook group and ask for pictures of other Foxy Fix notebooks. It will allow you to see how your TN will look after it has aged. Another choice is the color of your elastic and stitching which can be the same or different. Finally you have the option to adding inscriptions and embossing as well to create a more unique look.
Foxy Fix Leather
The leather for this notebook is very thick (at least 3 mm), thicker than my Chic Sparrow Mr. Darcy Deluxe. This is a very durable notebook cover and does not scratch easily. The elastic pen loop can hold my PaperMate Inkjoy gel pen though my Staedtler Tripilus falls right out. I love the secretarial pockets for storing larger items. The bottom pockets are very stiff which some may like. I found out I can work the pockets to make it looser which I prefer.
Foxy Fix Customizations
I choose a Macchiatto size No. 2 with turquoise elastic and stitching and gold. A recent addition is the embossing of an inscription on the front along with a symbol in gold or silver foil on the spine. I wish their was a cursive option for the inscriptions but I really love the gold heart on the spine. For my inscription I choose Truly Me which you can read more about that phrase on my Discover Truly Me post.
Honestly I was very torn between the Macchiatto and Everly, however the extra customizations won out. As for inserts for your notebook you can order from Foxy Fix, make your own or order from Etsy. Etsy has many shops which create planner or painting inserts. I have ordered from Etsy and also made my own.
One of the main reasons I was swayed on purchasing a Foxy Fix was the wonderful customer support in the My Foxy Fix Facebook Group. Being new to traveler’s notebooks I had many questions. I was impressed Foxy Fix hired a person to handle their community relations including answering questions in the Facebook group (by the way her name is Tiffany and she is a gem). It made the buying experience easier and took away my purchasing concerns. Recently I experienced poor communication from a company which made the purchasing experiencing quiet difficult.
Overall I am extremely pleased with my Foxy Fix. I am using it as my Planner Mini-me. I needed the ability to write down reminders, tasks or ideas when I am mobile with my phone. I can’t take my planners everywhere so my Planner Mini-me meets that need. The size no. 2 is perfect pair for my smartphone. So if you are interested in a traveler’s notebook from Foxy Fix check out their Foxy Notebook Guide which will answer many of your questions.
